In order to fulfill the constitutional court judgment 111-Hsien-Pan-13 (2022), relevant agencies are required to establish an independent supervisory mechanism for personal data protection within three years. Therefore, the Preparatory Office of the Personal Data Protection Commission was launched on December 5, 2023, with the aim of promoting the establishment of the Personal Data Protection Commission, which will serve as the data protection authority (DPA) of Taiwan.
The mission of our office is to plan the Commission, draft and amend the necessary data protection legislation and regulations, and design mechanisms for data protection supervision, auditing, notification, and public petitions. Another aspect of the Commission’s work that must be mapped out in advance is its mission to provide data protection training to cultivate talent in this field and develop an effective public education policy.
